Ruth’s wedding tips
  • Start planning early.  The summer wedding season is busy in this area!  Venues, lodging and tent rentals are often booked a year in advance.
  • A stage manager/wedding planner/personal assistant.  This person would help the activities happen on time, act as a liaison for the wedding couple, and have an overview of what is going on.  Whatever you want to call them, they are lifesavers.
  • Eat.  You won’t feel like eating because of nerves, but you must eat!  This goes for the wedding couple as well as their parents.   Eat something.  Bring along energy bars on the wedding day, or plan to have a lunch delivered.  Someone in your crew should be in charge of making sure you eat!
  • Double check all details.  Cake, Times, Rentals, Caterers, Musicians—in the months/weeks leading up to the big day it is always wise to double check what you think is supposed to happen.
  • Have fun!  Don’t make your schedule too tight, remember that you’ll want time to visit with friends and family.
